Day 9

Okay today was a bit slow. Didn't have a good night sleep and wasn't very productive. I started off with renderMan and got through 2 chapters of Ian's book. Its beginning to get interesting now. Today I studies how to handle lights in renderMan and also how to work with default materials. The default materials are actually very intuitive and work in a similar way to the Phong Shading model that Peter taught us. However, I didn't get to experiment much with the things I learned today, so no pretty pictures :p. I have an aim of covering 25 pages a day from his book so that I can finish it off in roughly 10 days. It seemed easy in the beginning but now as I am getting into the thick of the things it seems to get tougher to get that goal everyday. The book is actually written in such a deceptively simple way that it can mislead you. Hopefully by tomorrow I will be able to show what I did in today.

In the afternoon session I started doing some studies of dragons from some very basic sources. Just to get my hand flowing. Its a typical 'how to draw a dragon' kind of thing I am doing right now. Can't put up the results of that here as it is production work and I can't really share that openly. Don't want to get fired :)

Thats all for now.
