02nd June, 2012: The Recce went great yesterday and I would say that it was a success at many levels. We walked some 20 kms in central London and clicked around 900 pictures between us. We plan to publish these pictures as a photo library to photo-bucket so all our group members can access them. We started off at London Victoria coach station and went down to Victoria underground, taking some practice shots on the way and becoming used to our cameras. As I have owned a DSLR for some time now, it was a bit easier for me and I gave Josh a little, 2min tutorial about how to shoot in the Manual mode, while getting the exposure etc right.
From there we walked down to Harrods's on Knightsbridge. Then we doubled back and took a long walk back to the Piccadilly Circus. This was a really as we found some great architecture on the way and also found a few good locations. After Piccadilly, we followed the Pall Mall down to the Trafalgar square, which was a bit of a disappointment as it wasn't completely accessible as they were setting up a stage for some function, possibly for the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations.
From there we went to the Cecil court. This was, supposedly, the place that inspired the Diagon alley in Harry Potter. It was a really small place, but it definitely had character. We really enjoyed being there. After this we just got on the Strand and walked up to the St. Paul's Cathedral visiting a few places on the way such as the Somerset House, The Temple Church etc. St. Paul's Cathedral was really interesting and it gave us something to think about. The huge door in the front looked just like the door of our Academy of Science.
This was the main chunk of our tour. After this we made a tiring walk to the Tower bridge, passing the more modern part of London. We went through the construction site of the Shard, and upcoming building in Lindon. We ended our trip at The London Eye and the Big Ben.
Now I am packing for leaving to India for the next three months.
